If you follow me on Instagram than you have seen my latest post in tribute to John Lewis. He was a prominent figure in the civil rights movement, and remained as such until the day he passed. A young John Lewis is featured in my painting “March to Freedom” which I painted based on a powerful photograph of Martin Luther King Jr, Coretta Scott King, and John Lewis leading the March from Montgomery to Selma. The original photo is incredibly inspiring, you can feel the passion and emotion, and you can hear the screams. I felt so compelled to paint it. It is an important t image in American History and it is a story that should be told!
