Black lives still matter. Even if the chatter on your social media dies down, the work is not over. I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on how I can help create change as an ally. The most important factor I feel is education. In my early years, I painted famous black figures and I can recall how shocked I was that so many people had no idea who some of these figures were. To touch on my painting, “Fourteen Leaders” when you look at the that piece, how many figures can you name? Unfortunately, most people can not name even half. This is why I say education is crucial. Black history is American history and we would all benefit to learn more. Learning never hurt anybody!
